What do you get when you combine Rihanna and Kanye West? Well, besides some seriously catchy collaborations ("Run This Town", anyone?), you get a surprisingly candid chat with Interview magazine.
West, 33, sat down with the 22-year-old pop star to talk (rather casually, as the first question reads "Whuzup?") about her edgy persona, as well as her thoughts on motherhood.
Though Rihanna is known for her tough-girl anthems such as "Rude Boy," she admits she also has a vulnerable side. "I think a lot of people have a misperception of me," she says. "They only see the tough, defensive, aggressive side. But every woman is vulnerable. They have vulnerability. So of course I'm going to have that side...I just don't like people to see me cry."
The Grammy winner (who stars in the upcoming action flick Battleship) admits she was always a little rough around the edges, even in high school. "I didn't get along with people very well," the Barbados native reveals. "I got along with guys, but I hated the girls and the teachers."
In fact, Rihanna recognizes that if she has children, they'll likely inherit her tough side. "If I had a girl, she'd probably be really rebellious," she says. "She would be like a bundle of karma."
But don't start gearing up for a mini Rihanna anytime soon. Though the singer sees kids in her future, she's definitely waiting to find the right guy first.
"I definitely think a child deserves both parents," she says. "It would be selfish of me, because of my pride and independence to say, 'Oh, I just want a sperm donor, because I can do it myself.' I can do it myself, but that's not fair."
But even if Mr. Right does come along, RiRi has another obstacle to figure out before motherhood: her career.
"I mean, I have a lot of other stuff to accomplish before I get to kids," she tells West. "Whenever the time is right, I'll just know. I don't really plan on the age. It could be a year from now. It could be 10 years from now. Whenever is right."
