'The dude can dance, sing and rap ... he's a talented young brother,' Jay Rock says of his 'Westside' collabo with Brown.

Jay Rock is known to keep it gangsta, but on "Westside," a track off of his debut album Follow Me Home, the Watts, Los Angeles, MC slows it down with Chris Brown on the hook. The song, produced by Tha Bizness, serves as an ode to the allure of Hollywood.
"Basically, it's just tellin' a young chick, if you wanna come to the West Coast, we'll book you a flight. Come hang out with us and have a good time," Rock told MTV News. "It's a wonderful record. It's for the ladies."
Brown, who is known for chart toppers like 2005's breakout single "Run It" and his current hit "Look at Me Now," didn't have a chemistry problem with underground fave Jay Rock. In fact, the rapper says that the union came together rather easily. "That's my dude, I done seen him a couple of times in the streets and holla'd at him. We exchanged numbers and we kept in touch," Jay said. "He's a busy dude and he was doin' a video and I was like, 'Man I got this record.' He was like, 'All right man, when I get finished doing this video, I'm going to go to the studio and come through.' And it was just like that."
Once in the studio, Brown laid down his vocals in no time. "He did the hook within 15-20 minutes. That dude, he grinds and he had other stuff that he had to do, but he still [did it]."
The result is a smooth, breezy tune whose lyrics invite a lover for a Westside rendezvous. And while fans may find the pairing of CB and Jay Rock a bit surprising, the rapper can't say enough about his multitalented collaborator. "The thing is, that dude, he's talented," he said. "The dude can dance, sing and rap. He got all the characteristics and he's a talented young brother. I can respect him."
