RATINGS RAT RACE: ‘Made In Jersey’ Starts Low, Season Openers Down, ‘Grimm’ No.1

CBS’ Made In Jersey logged the lowest-rated new series premiere so far this fall among adults 18-49. The legal drama opened with a 1.1/4 at 9 PM last night. It tied the final season premiere of Fox’s Fringe (1.1/4) as the lowest-rated originals on Friday. Made In Jersey was down 39% from last fall’s season premiere of CSI: NY in the time slot and down 21% from the series debut of the now-defunct A Gifted Man in the 8 PM hour. Made In Jersey also was down from its lead-in, CSI: NY (1.3/5), which posted its lowest-premiere ever, down 28% from its season debut last September in the 9 PM berth. Anchor Blue Bloods (1.5/5) also had its lowest-rated premiere ever, down 25% from last year. Overall, CBS won premiere Friday in viewers and adults 18-49 for a sixth straight year. But it was the only major network with all-originals last night, and in 18-49 it finished tied for No.1 with ABC, which aired a Last Resort repeat. In total viewers, CBS was a cut above the competition, dominating every hour of primetime: CSI: NY (9 million), Made In Jersey (7.7 million) and Blue Bloods (11.1 million). SHOTS FIRED! Rick Ross And Young Jeezy SCUFFLE At The 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards!

Before it even airs, the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards has already become the stuff of legend with rap superstars Rick Ross and Young Jeezy fighting backstage and shots being fired in the parking lot!  Details inside.....

 

Two of hip hop's biggest superstars, Rick Ross (shown above on the red carpet) and Young Jeezy, got into an altercation backstage in Atlanta tonight at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Sources report that the two got into a verbal altercation which led to pushing and shoving.  The rappers' bodyguards and BET security intervened and broke the rappers up.

But after the backstage scuffle, Funkmaster Flex tweeted.....

then......

 

Apparently the argument spilled outside and a member of Rick Ross' entourage pulled out a gun in the parking lot and shots were fired.

What happened to the gunman isn't known at this time but Rick Ross and Young Jeezy remained at the awards.

Kristen Stewart Shops for Engagement Rings

After four years and four blockbuster films, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are ready to take their relationship to the next level.

In Touch has learned that Kristen went shopping at Neil Lane in West Hollywood with a friend in early June and stunned eyewitnesses when she headed straight for the engagement rings!

“She was trying on gold rings with various colored diamonds — nothing traditional,” one excited onlooker tells In Touch of the 22-year-old Twilight actress.

Kristen used to be in favor of taking “baby steps,” but a friend of the couple tells In Touch, “She loves Rob, and she’s finally ready — an engagement is a logical next step.”

They’ve been building toward it, adds the friend: “In the past year, they’ve really heated up — moving in together, traveling together, introducing each other to friends.”

Alicia Keys Rocks Out For The New York Times + Flicks From Inside 2012 BET Hip Hop Award Rehearsals

Alicia Keys made a statement in London today while stopping by BBC 1 to promote her new album Girl On Fire.  In a pink & purple printed scarf and gold Louboutin booties, the singer signed autographs for fans and posed for pics. 

 

Now, check out her rock out session for New York Times, plus rehearsal flicks from inside the 2012 Bet Hip Hop Awards...

Dressed in her usual jeans and fitted jacket, her Theodora & Callum scarf, and heels look, Alicia Keys is making her way around London this week.

She hit up BBC 1 radio, as well as The Radio Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw.  And showed off her fun side by taking a few crazy pics with the host.

Alicia's also been doing some concerts--she performed a free gig in Manchester's Cathedral, and tonight, she's set to perform at London's Roundhouse for the iTunes Festival.

 
 

Also, Alicia gave an inside look into how she came up with the concept and created the song "Girl On Fire."  After reading an interview in a magazine and the woman said she was like a girl on fire, it just stuck to her.  So the lyrics and chords just flowed.  From her glass piano, Alicia explains:

“A girl on fire is loud and obnoxious and destructive and just, like, totally unrelenting and she’s free."

"What I’m gonna ask myself is why I wrote this song so high.  ‘Cause I didn’t even get to the chorus yet, and I’m asking myself what made me write this song so high.”

And she also gushes about the talent of Frank Ocean:

“As a lyricist you love to hear other great lyrics or other great concepts.  I really appreciate Frank Ocean’s lyrical style, I appreciate the way that he can kind of draw you into this personal space, but it’s still lyrical. It’s almost poetic, in a way, but it’s very personal at the same time.”

Selena Gomez, Olivia Wilde Join In On Global Citizen Festival

Spending some quality time in the Big Apple for a great cause, Selena Gomez was front-and-center for The Global Citizen Festival in New York City on Saturday (September 29).

The “Love You Like A Love Song” singer looked absolutely stunning, joining fellow celebs Olivia Wilde, Katharine McPhee, John Legend, Peter Nemcova and Michelle Trachtenberg (among others) as a host for the event.

Encouraging her 12 million-plus followers to join her for this inspirational evening, Selena wrote, “Speaking for @UNICEFUSA & kids living in poverty at @GlobalFestival Sept 29 in NYC. Hope to see you there.”

Being dubbed as the largest syndicated charity webcast and broadcast, the festival will be held smack dab in Central Park, and offers performances by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Foo Fighters, the Black Keys, Band of Horses, and K'Naan.

According to the foundation’s website, “The Global Citizen Festival aims to mobilize more than 50,000 people to take action in support of ending extreme poverty."

Berenice Marlohe's Majestic Moscow "Skyfall" Photocall

Taking her French beauty east to Russia, Berenice Marlohe attended the "Skyfall" photocall on the roof of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Moscow on Saturday (September 29).

The newest Bond girl wore a stunning strapless blue dress with silver decoration and sparkly heels to the swanky red carpet event.

Hoping to entice fans to see it on the big screen, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson announced that "Skyfall" will open exclusively on North American IMAX screens a day earlier than regular theaters on November 8th.

Though the flick - which also stars Daniel Craig , Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes - wasn't shot in IMAX, it will be digitally retrofitted for IMAX screens for the advance showings.

Katie Holmes & Suri Step Out As "Suri's Burn Book" Hits Shelves

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise made a swift getaway from a dance school in New York City on Saturday (September 29).

The "Batman Begins" actress dressed down in some casual "mom wear," sporting a striped sweater and black pants, while her six-year-old fashionista daughter wore a pink ensemble with tan boots.

In related news, while Suri does have some of the most famous celebs in the world as her parents, she is making her own mark in Hollywood, serving as inspiration for a blog-turned-book.

About 18 months ago, Washington, D.C.-resident Allie Hagan had an idea to start Internet commentary on events, as told from the tiny Cruise's perspective. The experiment ended up blossoming into a publication, titled "Suri's Burn Book: Well-Dressed Commentary From Hollywood's Little Sweetheart."

As for how the whole thing got rolling, Hagan told The Province that "Every once in a while on my personal Twitter account I'd make little jokes about what Shiloh Jolie-Pitt was wearing or what Suri was up to, and a friend suggested I start a Tumblr account with that kind of humor about celebrity families. I knew that if I wrote it from my own perspective, it would come across as unnecessarily mean, possibly creepy. So I tried to think of a different angle."

Anderson Cooper to 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' Star Teresa Giudice: "You Seem Really Mean"

Anderson Cooper has been watching The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and he is not Team Teresa. During cast member Teresa Giudice's appearance on his daytime talk show, Anderson Live, Cooper confronted Teresa about her dramatic falling-out with fellow Housewives Melissa Gorga, Jacqueline Laurita and Caroline Manzo. And he said to her face what many viewers were thinking: "You seem really mean!"

"I watch the show a lot -- I don't know you in person and stuff. You seem really mean on the show," Cooper told Giudice during the show, which aired on Wednesday. To prove his point, the news anchor aired a clip from Bravo's upcoming reunion show, in which Teresa responds to a criticism from Caroline by attacking her weight.

"I am not that person," Giudice said after watching the clip, "but you have to understand. I know Caroline a long time and at the reunion show I had four women attacking me. I did nothing to any of them."

Cooper wasn't buying it, telling Teresa, "I don't care. You're not twelve years old." Watch the clip below!

 

Later in the interview, Cooper asked Guidice about her feud with Jacqueline Laurita, whose son has recently been diagnosed with autism. Teresa denied that she had been an unsupportive friend.

"I did reach out to her, I texted her: I'm sorry to hear about your son, hope all goes well," said Teresa.

When asked why she didn't just pick up a phone and call her former BFF, Teresa turned it around and accused Jacqueline of bullying her. "If I show you the texts that she's sent to me... if it keeps going eventually I am going to go to the cops  because I want her to leave me alone," she told Cooper."I did nothing to her. It's like when I get texts from her I get chills through out my body because I am like, 'why?' I haven't spoken to her in a year. I never reach out to her, she sends me random text messages."

Teresa's appearance on Anderson Live sparked instant controversy, with some Housewives fans saying that Cooper exposed her for the "mean girl" she is, and others accusing the TV personality of being too tough on the reality star. In fact, Giudice returned to the show on Thursday to try and make amends (see clip below).

"It made me really sad that I would have been rude because I didn't want to be rude," Guidice told Cooper during her follow-up appearance. Hear that, Housewives watchers? Teresa actually apologized to somebody!

Maggie Gyllenhaal Talks Motherhood and Education

 

In the inspirational new film Won't Back Down (in theaters Sept. 28), Maggie Gyllenhaal plays a mom who constantly worries about making the right decisions for her daughter. But in real life, the 34-year-old actress has realized that it's pointless to stress about getting it right.

"I kind of feel like that is the wrong question to be asking, like 'Am I a good mom?' I used to think I wanted to do it amazingly and perfectly. But part of being a mother is learning the lesson that you will absolutely fail many, many times," she tells iVillage exclusively.

But one thing that Gyllenhaal -- who has two daughters (Ramona, 5, and 5-month-old Gloria) with husband Peter Sarsgaard -- does worry about is her daughters' education. "I take my daughter to school every day, and who her teacher is so incredibly important," she says. "If a teacher is really, really failing, I don't want them to teach my kid or anyone else's."
