Hanks/Bullock 9/11 Drama to Win All the Oscars in 2012

A film adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's book Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is coming together, and it looks like the kind of thing from which we'll be seeing many clips at the next year's Oscars.

Eric Roth, who wrote Forrest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Insider, Munich, and Ali, has written the screenplay, based on the 2005 novel about a 9-year-old boy who finds a key that belonged to his father, who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The film will be produced by Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Hours, The Truman Show) and directed by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours, The Reader). Variety reports that Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock are about to sign on as the stars. And the name of the little boy in the story? Oskar.

So this will either be one of the 2011's major Academy Awards contenders, or it will be the film that everyone thinks is going to be a contender and then isn't.
