Gay Rights Groups Call Out David Tyree for Anti-Marriage Comments, Idiocy

There's little to really say about the ignorant statements made by former NFL wideout David Tyree yesterday.

An African-American, he actually asked - in an interview with the National Organization for Marriage - how a law can be changed simply because an "influential minority" pushes an "agenda."

He also said New York state approving a gay marriage bill would be a step toward "anarchy."

David Tyree: Against Gay Marriage

A rep for the Human Rights Campaign couldn't keep quiet after that one. He/she said to TMZ:

"Anarchy? Hardly. Committed gay and lesbian couples have been able to legally marry in five states and the District of Columbia - not to mention a number of foreign countries - for years now and cows are still giving milk, little boys are still pulling little girls’ pig tails, and we still drive on the right side of the street."

GLAAD also turned its attention away from Tracy Morgan and issued the following statement:

"Tyree’s statements are as misleading as they are ridiculous, and do not accurately reflect the growing acceptance that we're seeing from sports stars like Charles Barkley, Steve Nash, Sean Avery, Brendon Ayanbadejo, Scott Fujita and fellow former Giant Michael Strahan."
