Gwyneth Paltrow Joins Twitter!

Move over, Kardashians: Gwyneth Paltrow is ready to give you some Twitter competition!

The 38-year-old actress-singer finally joined the social network on June 1. And for her very first tweet, Paltrow recorded a short video to verify that the account is really hers. "Hi, I'm trying to join the 21st century," she says into the camera. "So, it's me. I'm on Facebook and Twitter -- but not right now. I'm walking down the street looking for a cab. See ya!"

It's been less than a day, but the Country Strong star has already garnered more than 31,000 followers, including Nicole Richie and Jessica Simpson. And to give her an extra boost, her pal Ryan Seacrest (who has 4 million followers of his own!) gave her a warm welcome to the Twitterverse.

"Welcome to twitter @GwynethPaltrow," he wrote. "I loved u in iron man."

So far, Paltrow has only treated fans to one tweet -- but judging by her blog, Goop.com, she'll soon be tweeting up a storm about gourmet cooking and travel advice.
