Amanda Bynes "Was Not Drunk" on Night of DUI Arrest, Says Her Dad

Despite her DUI arrest on Friday, actress Amanda Bynes has one supporter who firmly believes she was not inebriated.

"She was not drunk," her dad, Rick Bynes, tells People. "I was told that she blew a zero on the Breathalyzer. She didn't have a single drink that night. My daughter doesn't drink."

The She's the Man actress, 26, was arrested early April 6 for suspicion of driving under the influence. The Los Angeles cops arrested Bynes after she crashed her BMW into the back of a stopped police vehicle.

The police's version of the events are as follows: At around 3 a.m. on Friday, "a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy in a marked black and white radio car, was stopped at the intersection of... Robertson Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard preparing to turn right onto Santa Monica Boulevard when a black BMW driven by actress Amanda Bynes attempted to pass the right of the radio car, colliding with the right rear quarter panel of the radio car."

But Bynes' father blames the police officer for the fender-bender. He believes the cop was at fault for pulling out in front of his daughter as she was turning at the intersection where the accident occurred.

Mr. Bynes maintains that his daughter was in no way drunk and that "she was upset and very emotional" after the arrest. He also believes that Bynes' decision to take a break from acting has made her a target.

"She is a good girl. She just chooses not to work, and because of that, people go after her."

The actress was released with the citation and will have to show up in court when a date is set for her hearing.
