Kate Hudson and Matthew Bellamy have been engaged for more than a year, but according to the actress' mother, Goldie Hawn, wedding bells aren't ringing any time soon.
"There's no prepping for a wedding," Hawn, 66, told Us Weekly at charity dinner in New York City on Wednesday. "She's very happy. She's a great mom, the baby's beautiful, and they'll get married when they're ready."
Hudson, who turned 33 on Thursday, is apparently happy remaining engaged to the Muse frontman, also 33. The couple has a 9-month-old son, Bingham, and Hudson has an 8-year-old son, Ryder, with ex-husband Chris Robinson.
Hawn added that being a grandmother is "love with a capital L!" and that baby Bingham "is just beautiful."
The loving grandma herself sparked speculation that the couple had gotten secretly married when she was quoted in the London Evening Standard's ES magazine last month as saying: "When my daughter Kate married an English rock star it didn't worry me; all that matters is that the relationship is a good one," she continued. "What people do is not necessarily who they are."
But she later claimed via Twitter that the newspaper misquoted her. Regardless of her daughter's marital status (Hawn has been "unmarried" to partner Kurt Russell since 1983), Goldie takes her role as a grandmother quite seriously.
"(I hope to teach my grandkids) to become as resilient as they can. We all get knocked down, but the measure of the man is how fast you get up. And I think that's what I'd really like to instill in the kids," Hawn says. "We're all going to fail, we're all going to mess up, but it's not as much about that as it is learning from your mistakes and getting up real fast."
