Joe Simpson, Jessica Simpson's Dad, Gets a DUI

Talk about setting a bad example for your kids! Joe Simpson, father to both Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, was reportedly arrested for DUI on Aug. 4.

TMZ claims that the 54-year-old talent manager was arrested on Ventura Blvd. in Los Angeles last Saturday at around 10 p.m. Police reportedly suspected he was intoxicated from the get-go and arrested him on the spot. Though Simpson spent the night behind bars, he was released without bail and sent home the next morning.

The case hasn't been sent to the L.A. City Attorney's Office yet -- and, unfortunately, we've yet to see a mug shot. TMZ says that Simpson likely won't get any jail time even if criminal charges are filed because this is his first offense. What he likely will be facing is a major fine and some reprimanding from his famous daughters.

We would have expected the former minister, married to Tina Simpson, to be on better behavior -- especially since he now has two grandchildren to set an example for. Jessica gave birth to daughter Maxwell on May 1, the first child for her and fiancé Eric Johnson. Meanwhile Ashlee has 3-year-old son Bronx with her, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz.

"Beautiful baby girl," Simpson tweeted at the time of Maxwell's birth. "What a miracle!"

It seems like driving while intoxicated is a popular offense this week, as Randy Travis was also knocked with a DWI earlier this week. At least Simpson wasn't buck naked when police picked him up!
