Saturday Night Live returned from its summer hiatus with a hilarious hosting turn from Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy and American Dad.
During the 38th season opener, the SNL cast and MacFarlane parodied the two most important contests of the summer: the presidential campaign and the London Olympics.
Ted director and talented voice-actor MacFarlane, who opened the show with a variety of impressions, hit a high note with his impression of a dim-witted Ryan Lochte during "Weekend Update."
"I'm Ryan Lochte," MacFarlane, dressed in a London 2012 warm-up suit and wearing several medals, mumbled to anchor Seth Meyers. "I was America in the Olympics."
When asked for his picks for the new fall television season, MacFarlane (as Lochte) said, "I'm really excited about that show Goon [starring Matthew Perry]."
"That's actually Go On," Meyers corrected him. "It's two words."
"Ahh. Okay. Either way, it looks really go-od," MacFarlane, 38, answered.
"No, that's 'good,'" Meyers explained. "That's one word."
MacFarlane then riffed on Lochte's reputation for immaturity by fidgeting and demanding a snack. "Oh, man, it feels so weird to be dry. Juice?"
After Meyers handed him a juicebox, MacFarlane took a sip and uttered Lochte's trademark "Jeah."
MacFarlane closed out his impression with yet another indication that Lochte isn't considered the smartest guy out of the pool.
"I was watching this one show and like partway through, there were all these other little shows," he said. "Those are commercials," Meyers explained.
