Ugly Betty Actor Michael Brea Kills Mother with Sword

Ugly Betty Actor Michael Brea Kills Mother with Sword

In one of the more bizarre and disturbing news stories, it has been reported that New York City actor Michael Brea (who appeared on the television series Ugly Betty, as well as this year's Step Up 3D) murdered his own mother, Yanick Brea, with a sword.

The New York Daily News reports that 31-year-old Brea killed his 55-year-old mother on Tuesday morning after he thought she was possessed by the devil. Police were called to Yanick's Brooklyn apartment after neighbors heard her screams. "Her screams woke me up. Screams I'll never forget," one neighbor said. Another neighbor said they heard Michael, as well, and claimed he was yelling, "Sinner! Sinner!" and "You never accepted Jesus!"

When police removed Michael (who was allegedly wearing "fire and brimstone" attire and clutching a bible) from the scene, it was already too late for Yanick (who had worked at the Marriott World Trade Center and survived the 9/11 attacks). She was found dead from multiple stab wounds. The weapon was said to be a "Masonic ceremonial sword."

Neighbors and family members now question whether the horrific crime could have been prevented all together if measures had been taken earlier. One resident told the NYDN, the police, "just kept saying protocol this and protocol that. Now a woman's dead who should be alive if only the police would have listened." Yanick's brother Serge Mercel told the paper, "To think my sister was inside, crying for her life, and the police that are supposed to be protecting her are standing at the door. It's enough to make me sick."

But, the NYPD assure the incident was handled properly. NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly told the New York Daily News: "It's a barricaded situation and that is handled by the Emergency Services Unit. What happens in a barricade situation is that responding patrol officers, if possible, wait for the Emergency Services forces to arrive." An NYPD spokeswoman added, "This was necessary protocol, because the person appeared dangerous to himself and the officers."

While Michael, who had no previous arrests, has not been officially charged, police told TVGuide.com that Brea is a "person of interest" in the murder.

Leave your condolences for the friends and family of Yanick Brea below.

Justin Bieber's New 'Never Say Never' Trailer Plays Up 3-D

Bieber flies across the screen spraying silly string and throwing popcorn in just-released sneak peek.

In October, Justin Bieber debuted the first trailer for his February 3-D flick "Never Say Never." And on Monday (November 22), just one day after his big night at the AMAs, a new trailer for the flick hit the Internet.

The sneak peek opens with classical music playing as the screen reads, "This Valentine's Day," over an image of Bieber. Soon, the singer is spraying silly string as the screen reads, "See Bieber like never before." Then, Bieber throws popcorn at the camera — all tricks to play up the film being in 3-D.

Soon, a montage of Bieber as a kid flashes across the screen along with concert video and behind-the-scenes footage of the singer with various people in Bieber's camp sharing tidbits about the singer, including "He could really be huge, if he wanted" and "He's 16, and he's doing it all on his own."

At the end of the trailer, Bieber is seen learning about the cameras used to shoot his 3-D flick as he sticks out 3-D glasses and looks into a screen seeing what the 3-D will look like. "That's sick, right?" he says. "It looks like it's about to hit that guy in the head."

It was just announced that fans can catch a sneak-peek screening of the film February 9, two days before it officially hits theaters. They'll be surprised just to see I'm a regular person," he said. "I'm a regular teenage boy. I like girls, and I like to hang out with my friends. It's gonna be taking them into my world, but also like it's their world, 'cause it's just normal."

Beyonce1123.jpg
A month after shutting down rumors that her superstar daughter was expecting her first child, Tina Knowles couldn?t stop gushing about Beyonc and hubby Jay-Z?s potential parenting skills. ?I think they?ll make great parents because they?re good people and really positive and talented,? Tina told In Touch at the launch of the Lorraine Schwartz ?2Bhappy? Jewelry Collection in New York on November 22, which the Knowles family matriarch attended with her eldest daughter by her side. Since Beyonc and Jay-Z are already a proud aunt and uncle to sister Solange?s 6-year-old son, Daniel Julez Smith, Tina says the powerhouse couple are no strangers to child-rearing. ?They had a lot of practice with my grandson, their nephew. They?ve spent a lot of time with him,? Tina added. ?[Beyonc] is very caring and patient and loving, so I know she?ll be a great mom!?

DWTS competitors: Bristol deserves to be here

Bristol1117.jpg Bristol Palin?s presence in next week's Dancing With the Stars finals has sparked much debate in regard to one of this season?s lowest-scoring couples dancing off against consistently high-scoring competitors Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey. Many thought Brandy, who was just eliminated, was a shoo-in to reach the finals, but now speculation is rife that a political rally by supporters of Bristol?s mom, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, helped Bristol make the finals. Those rumors are something she and partner Mark Ballas are quick to dispel.

Christina Milian Reaches $4 Million Divorce Settlement With The Dream

Christina Milian and her daughter Violet can finally move onto the second phase of their lives as she has finally reached a divorce settlement with ex-husband The Dream.  Get the deets inside...

In a recent statement , Christina's attorney Randy Kessler revealed that the former couple reached their agreement in a "peaceful" manner.

Now, the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Christina is expected to get a one-time payment of $4 million dollars plus $5,000 a month in child support for their daughter Violet in exchange for an ironclad promise to never say one word about The Dream or their relationship.  Sounds peaceful enough to me.

Kessler said, "Ms. Milian strongly believes that peaceful resolution is better for their child and that she is very pleased with the settlement and that it was accomplished out of court."

The couple officially split up last January, with The-Dream releasing an emotional statement claiming that their relationship was "unsuccessful," and Christina saying that he was guilty of adultery.

And though The-Dream claimed that he attempted to commit suicide in July, because he was so distraught over their divorce, photos later surfaced of him and his personal assistant Melissa Santiago vacationing together.  SMH.

Seems like Christina has the support of her mom so she won't be totally alone as a single mother.  Good luck Chris!

'Dancing With The Stars' Recap: Jennifer Grey Has A Flawless Finale

Bristol Palin is back on the bottom, while Kyle Massey couldn't quite measure up to the 'Dirty Dancing' actress.

While surprise eliminations have made this one of the most talked-about "Dancing With the Stars" seasons yet, there weren't any real shockers on Monday night's (November 22) episode.

Front-runner Jennifer Grey continued her dominance, grabbing perfect 10s for both her performances. In fact, judge Bruno Tonioli told her he loved her paso doble so much, he wished he could give her an 11. For her freestyle, Grey and partner Derek Hough had a bit of fun with a send-up of her famous role in "Dirty Dancing." She started off the routine by holding a watermelon then shimmied to the Contours' "Do You Love Me (Now That I Can Dance)." The judges loved it; head judge Len Goodman said, "You're like a juggernaut ... heading for that mirror-ball trophy!" 60/60

The second-place finisher was Disney kid Kyle Massey, who did a freestyle hip-hop dance that earned him one of his highest scores, a 29. In his freestyle, he dressed like Will Smith in the title sequence of his 1990s sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." He and his partner, Lacey Schwimmer, also performed the foxtrot for his second dance. "I dub you the Fresh Prince of 'Dancing With the Stars,' " judge Carrie Ann Inaba told him. 56/60

The last-place dancer was Bristol Palin, whose first dance was a freestyle during which she started off inside a jail cell. She redid a jive that judges thought didn't quite cut it earlier in the season. She and her partner Mark Ballas freestyled to "Cell Block Tango" from the Broadway musical "Chicago." The judges weren't impressed with her reinterpretation of the Fosse-choreographed dance. 52/60
