Apple CEO Apologizes For Flawed Maps App

This had to hurt. Apple CEO Tim Cook acknowledged this morning that his company’s Maps product — which replaced Google Maps in the new iPhone 5 and iOS 6 operating system — “fell short” of his company’s standards. “We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better,” he said in a public letter. widespread reports across Internet from people who became lost after relying on the Apple app for travel directions. For example, New York Times writer David Pogue wrote this week that he used his iPhone to reach a speaking engagement, but “When the app told me that I had arrived, I was sitting in a random suburban cul-de-sac.” Cook says that “The more our customers use our Maps the better it will get.” But he added that, in the meantime, they can download map apps from competitors including Bing, MapQuest, Waze, Google, and Nokia. “Everything we do at Apple is aimed at making our products the best in the world,” Cook says. “We know that you expect that from us, and we will keep working non-stop until Maps lives up to the same incredibly high standard.” So what do you think: Would Apple have released a product as flawed ... Richie Sambora: I'm in a "Very Good Place" with Ex Heather Locklear

Time has been kind to exes Richie Sambora and Heather Locklear.

More than five years after the Bon Jovi guitarist, 53, and the Melrose Place star, 51, divorced, the former spouses have been able to make amends and become friends again. Sambora and Locklear, who share custody of their teenaged daughter Ava, 15, are apparently much more amicable now than ever.

"We're very good. It's actually even beyond for [our daughter's] sake," Sambora told Access Hollywood Live on Sept. 25. "Heather and I really respect each other and we've become better friends, I think, now that we're not married."

The rocker, whose intimate new album Aftermath of the Lowdown came out Sept. 18, added that the three of them "go out all the time as a family" and that he and his lovely ex-wife are "in a very good place" with each other.

Sambora, who split from his on-again, off-again love Denise Richards in June, also opened up about being a dad to his beautiful adolescent daughter.

"Throughout my parenting I have given her a moral barometer, because when they become teenagers, they're going to be away from you more than they're going to be with you," he explained. "They're going to make their own decisions."

He even acknowledged what it's like to know Ava is beginning to experience teen romance.

"She's dating. She's already dated," Sambora added. "I have a nice big house and I make sure all the kids come over to my place so I get a chance to [meet] them."

Rihanna Single "Diamonds" Asks You To "Shine Bright"

Rihanna wants her fans to "shine bright," and she reminds them that they can in her newest single, "Diamonds."

Stargate produced this new track, so expect for it to be as catchy as their other collaborations with Rihanna like "Only Girl (In the World)," "S&M" and "Unfaithful." "Diamonds" isn't as upbeat as some of Rihanna's other creations, but its hook -- "So shine bright tonight, you and I/ We're beautiful like diamonds in the sky/ Eye to eye, so alive/ We're beautiful like diamonds in the sky" -- is one that will surely get caught in your head after one listen.

"It gives me such a great feeling when I listen to it," she told Las Vegas radio host Elvis Duran at the iHeartRadio festival (via MTV News). "The lyrics are very hopeful and positive, but it's about love, and the gears are a little different from what people would expect. I'm excited to surprise them sonically."

We always wonder who artists are singing about in love songs like this. It could be that Rihanna is serenading a man who doesn't exist, but we tend to assume she's talking to ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. She recently admitted she still loves him, and they shared a kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month.

Rihanna opens the song by singing, "Find light in the beautiful sea/ I chose to be happy/ You and I, you and I/ We're like diamonds in the sky."

"Diamonds" is the first single off of Rihanna's upcoming seventh studio album, and is also the name of her 2013 world tour. Rihanna has yet to announce when her album will drop or what it will be called, but many believe it will come out in November and be called 7 Wonders.
