There's no age cut-off for the Kids' Choice Awards, a fact that usually makes for some fun surprises -- whether it's Sandra Bullock shaking her booty with Betty White during last year's show, or 12-year-old Jaden Smith facing off against 47-year-old Johnny Depp for this year's favorite movie actor award. Nominations for the annual Nickelodeon event were announced on Thursday, along with the news that Jack Black will act as the ceremony's host for the third year in a row.
"Anyone can host something once," Black proudly told Entertainment Weekly. "But if they ask you back a second time, that means they liked the way you did it. And if you host a third time, that means the first time wasn't a fluke, and it means you did good two times. So the third time, well — that's the real achievement."
Black, who is also nominated for favorite movie actor for his performance in Gulliver's Travels, isn't the only big star who's excited to be the kids' choice. Cameron Diaz, nominated for favorite voice in an animated movie for her role as Princess Fiona in Shrek Forever After, says she's honored because, "as everyone knows, the kids know their stuff."
"After all these years, Fiona is very close to my heart," the actress tells People, "and it's awesome to know that kids around the world love her as much as I do."
Justin Bieber, the Kids' Choice Awards' least surprising nominee, also expressed gratitude for his favorite male artist and favorite song ("Baby") nods.
"My life was changed by fans and by kids like me clicking on my videos and letting me chase a dream," Bieber, 16, tells UsMagazine.com. "Once again those same kids are there and I am forever grateful."
Bieber was out-nominated by Miley Cyrus, who's up for three awards: favorite TV actress, favorite movie actress and favorite female singer. Other multiple nominees include Katy Perry for favorite female singer and favorite song ("California Gurls"), Taylor Swift for favorite female singer and favorite song ("Mine"), Selena Gomez for favorite TV actress and favorite female singer, and the Jonas Brothers, who were nominated as a band for favorite music group and individually for favorite TV actor (well, Nick and Joe were -- sorry, Kevin!).
Kids can vote on Nick.com beginning on March 1. The ceremony will air live on Nick on April 2.
