There will be no raucous New Year's Eve for the royal newlyweds this year. As they celebrate the close of a huge year, Prince William and Kate Middleton will be ringing in 2012 surrounded by family, reports Us Weekly. Only days after their 8-month anniversary, the happy couple will reunite with the rest of the royals in Aberdeen, Scotland, at Birkhall, a 53,000-acre estate belonging to William's father, Prince Charles.
Spending both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day there, they will be joined for pomp and circumstance by Charles and his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles. And, unlike Christmas with her in-laws, Kate is also expecting her parents Michael and Carole for the festivities. Although, if the Middletons do attend the celebrations, they won't be crashing in any of the estate's guest rooms over the holiday weekend.
"(The Middletons) are staying at Teapot Cottage or another cottage on the estate, not Birkhall itself," a source tells Us.
All eyes will be on the stylish duchess to see if she brings out her newest accessories again -- a pair of Kiki McDonough earrings, believed to be a Christmas gift from her handsome hubby. The 29-year-old Duchess of Cambridge was spotted wearing them on Christmas Day, going to and from church with the royal family. The drop earrings are green amethysts surrounded by diamonds on a diamond hoop, and retail for a little more than $3,000.
Whether Kate will be rocking her new earrings or not, we're sure she will make the celebration sparkle.
