Will You Watch Russell Brand?s New Late-Night Show?

Want to spend the night with Russell Brand? Now's your chance! Katy Perry's dirty-talking husband has just signed a deal for a new late-night series on FX. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the British comedian's chat show will tackle "current events, politics and pop culture."

"We're very excited to add Russell Brand's bracingly funny, original and honest voice to the FX comedy lineup," says a network executive, who pledges that Brand, 36, will "strip down the hosted comedy format to its most fundamental elements and create something daring and unfiltered."

Brand is a reliably entertaining talk show guest, so we'd imagine he'd be a good fit for a hosting gig. (With his irreverent sense of humor and bad-boy past, we're picturing him as a kind of male Chelsea Handler.) In his announcement, he sounds suitably enthusiastic about the new job. Perhaps a little too enthusiastic?

"I am so excited I'm on the point of climax, in fact I will put the 'O' into FX, which spells FOX, which is actually the channel's real name," jokes Brand. "That's the only thing that worries me about all this to be honest. At least I'll be able to have a Christmas drink with Bill O'Reilly."

The show is currently contracted for six episodes and will premiere in the spring along other FX original comedies like Louie and The League. So: will you watch it?
