Few sounds are as delightful -- or as rarely heard! -- as news anchor Anderson Cooper having a giggling fit. On his Anderson 360 segment "The Ridiculist," Cooper regularly skewers everything from toilet thefts to Courtney Stodden without breaking his poker face. But now, for the second time, Cooper has collapsed into a giggling mess during a particularly ridiculous "Ridiculist." Watch below!
This time, the thing that set Cooper off was an "obscure but real" Polish-American holiday called Dyngus Day, celebrated in Buffalo, N.Y., with parades and drinking. In fairness, saying "Dyngus Day" with a straight face is really, really hard. But Cooper didn't actually lose it until he started talking about the Dyngus Day tradition of men sprinkling women they like with water, while the women retaliate by "striking back with a tap from a pussy willow branch." Cooper tried valiantly to hold back the giggles, even stepping away from his desk -- but they just kept coming.
"It's really so stupid!" Anderson exclaimed, wiping away tears. (On Twitter, he later clarified that he was referring to himself, not to the noble tradition of Dyngus Day.)
After sighing, "I'm just going to let it all out," Cooper regained his composure, managing to get out the sentence, "Ain't no party like a Dyngus Day party, 'cause a Dyngus Day part is the most random excuse to drink there is."
The world first heard Anderson's amazing giggle last August, when he cracked up during a "Ridiculist" segment about Gerard Depardieu urinating on a plane. (Watch below.) The video (a nominee in the "You Hate to Admit Loving..." category in the 2012 iVillage Entertainment Awards) became such a viral sensation that Cooper felt the need to put himself on the "Ridiculist" the following night. But don't worry, Anderson! Cracking up on your show doesn't make you look ridiculous -- only adorable.
