Sheryl Crow battled -- and beat -- breast cancer in 2006, and now she's revealed that she has a brain tumor. Luckily, the 50-year-old singer says this tumor is benign.
"I worried about my memory so much that I went and got an MRI. And I found out I have a brain tumor," Crow, who had been experiencing inexplicable memory loss before the diagnosis, tells the Las Vegas Journal Review. "I haven't really talked about it. In November, I found out I have a brain tumor. But it's benign, so I don't have to worry about it."
One thing Crow might have to worry about is forgetting the lyrics to her songs, like she did while performing "Soak Up the Sun" in Florida this May.
"I'm 50, what can I say? My brain's gone to s***," she joked at the time. But even Crow isn't sure she can blame that one on the brain tumor. "I have a history of forgetting my lyrics," she admits to LVJR.
There's no word on whether Crow will undergo surgery to remove the tumor, but the singer's rep tells People that it is a meningioma, a typically benign growth that develops from the brain and spinal cord linings. Adds the rep, Sheryl is "healthy and happy" -- and, from the sounds of it, "Strong Enough" to take to the stage and forget her lyrics very soon!
