Octavia Spencer Went Streaking After Obama Won 2008 Election

Some people get wild and crazy on New Year's or St. Patricks Day -- but Octavia Spencer unleashes her wild side on Election Day! The Help actress tells Us Weekly that she celebrated the 2008 election of Barack Obama in a rather unusual way.

"I went streaking after Obama was elected!" says the Oscar nominee.

However, she does explain that she wasn't simply excited about politics, saying, "I had to pay off a bet!"

Spencer, 39, clarifies that it was a one-time deal -- and there's only one circumstance under which she'd streak again, even if she does win the Academy Award for best supporting actress come Feb. 26.

"Well, if a good-looking guy is attached and he wants us to streak together… late at night... where there are no people… that's about the most streaking I have left in me!" laughs the actress.

As it happens, her date to the Oscars will be the man who made the streaking bet with her in the first place: The Help director Tate Taylor.

"He wasn't nominated and I was sad about that, but he's been with me since the beginning of my career," said Spencer of the director. "He's responsible for the success of the film, so I couldn't think of anyone better I want to share that moment with than him! I am so excited."

Octavia is considered the favorite to win best supporting actress at this year's Academy Awards, for her celebrated portrayal of Minny Jackson in The Help. So far, the role has netted her a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a BAFTA. In other words, it's a good thing she doesn't streak every time she's celebrating; the way this awards season is going, she wouldn't get a chance to put her clothes back on!
