After the departure of Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul last month, there are two female judges' spots available on The X Factor. Simon Cowell has said that he was considering the late Whitney Houston for one of the positions, and now it looks like Janet Jackson may also be a possibility.
The youngest Jackson played coy with Anderson Cooper during an interview set to air Monday on his talk show Anderson. When Cooper asks the pop icon if she's going to be joining the show as a judge, Jackson, 45, seems taken off-guard and stumbles a bit and laughing.
"Oh my God," she says. When she finally recovers from the unexpected question, she replies: "No I'm not a judge on The X Factor."
But Cooper won't take "No" for an answer. "You're not currently a judge on The X Factor," he clarifies.
"No, I am not," Jackson replies, "but that's all I really think I should say."
"Intriguing, I will say," Anderson says. "Intriguing."
Fox wouldn't confirm Jackson's relationship to the show, but a source close to the singer tells E! News that she would like to do the reality show, and that Cowell has confirmed it is being discussed.
Also on his wish list? Apparently, Pink and Katy Perry. "I worked with Katy once," said Cowell to Extra. "I think she would be fun because she is hard -- in a good way -- and she's feisty."
Auditions for season 2 of The X Factor will begin online March 1, with open-call auditions starting March 14.
