Returning to the show that helped launch her career, Maya Rudolph took over the hosting duties on yesterday's (February 18) episode of "Saturday Night Live".
Following a Linsanity Postgame Cold Open sketch centering on New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin, Miss Rudolph stepped onstage for her monologue in which she treated the Studio 8H audience and viewers at home to a song about her many love partners called “Do You Wanna Funk?” before moving into the crowd while hitting on a handful of current cast members.
During the course of the show, a favorite clip was a segment titled "Jay-Z and Beyonce's Baby" in which Maya and Jay Pharoah play the music power couple while welcoming a long line of celebrity pals to see their newborn baby Blue Ivy - with Justin Timberlake making a surprise appearance as Bon Iver while Kristen Wiig played Taylor Swift and Taran Killam and Abby Elliot teamed up to portray Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Other segments included a piece dubbed "Cosby Obama" in which the first lady announces a new comedy program - in the style of "The Cosby Show" - to promote her campaign against childhood obesity, as well as skits like "Bronx Beat," "How’s He Doing?" and "Really? with Seth and Amy: Birth Control".
Joining Rudolph on last night's "Saturday Night Live" was musical guest Sleigh Bells, as the noise pop music duo consisting of Derek E. Miller and Alexis Krauss offered up performances of their songs "Comeback Kid" and "End of the Line" during the course of the show.
