New 'Hunger Games' Trailer Is Released

And on the 50th day until The Hunger Games, Lionsgate gave to fans a brand-new theatrical trailer!

The 70-second trailer gives a clearer look at Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) during her interview with Caesar Flickerman (Stanley Tucci) before the Games begin.

Dressed in a gorgeous red dress designed by her stylist Cinna (Lenny Kravitz), Katniss explains to Ceasar (think Ryan Seacrest meets Barbara Walters with a futuristic makeover) what she tells her younger sister Prim after taking her place as District 12's tribute to the Games.

"I told her I would try to win for her," Katniss tells Flickerman, who always knows how to get a good quote from the Tributes before they set off to kill each other in the annual battle-to-the-death competition.

But the trailer opens with another key scene: Katniss giving Prim the Mockingjay pin as a token of good luck -- a change from the book, in which the pin is a gift to Katniss to take to the Games from her classmate and friend.

Although it's barely over a minute long, the trailer could possibly make fans cry, like during the fraught conversation between Katniss and Gale as they have their brief goodbye before she's whisked away.

"Take care of them, Gale," Katniss weepily tells her best friend. "Whatever you do, don't let them starve."

The Hunger Games comes out at midnight March 23, 2012.
