Ryan Gosling Causes a Stir at Mom's Graduation Ceremony

Ryan Gosling is a man of many talents, like being a supportive son. The superstar and his girlfriend Eva Mendes caused a Twitter frenzy in Ontario when they showed up to attend his mother's graduation on June 6.

The Crazy, Stupid Love star, 31, showed up to cheer on his mom Donna Gosling as she graduated from Teacher's College at Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario. Although he and Mendes attempted to remain lowkey by sitting in the back of the auditorium, the couple was spotted whispering to each other throughout the ceremony.

According to the St. Catherines Standard, when Donna's name was called out to receive her diploma, the proud son stood up to cheer, applaud and take some photos of his mama's milestone moment.

Word of the surprising celebrity sighting quickly leaked out to the Twitterverse, with one eager attendee snapping an Instagram pic of an unhappy-to-be-photographed Gosling and a smiley Mendes.

"Oh hello Ryan Gosling!" the user missaaj captioned the candid.

But Gosling wasn't in the mood to take away from his mother's celebration. "He requested privacy for himself and his family. He told me this was his mom's day and the graduates' day. He didn't want to be a diversion," the university spokesman explained.

Echoing that statement, Gosling refused to grant the local newspaper an interview, merely saying: "This is my mom's day."

Leading man, Good Samaritan, gorgeous sex symbol, and awesome son: Gosling is the whole package.
