When Bachelor Ben Flajnik popped the question to controversial contestant Courtney Robertson on the show's big finale, fans everywhere were shocked. The manipulative model had been dubbed the season's villain, and many viewers speculated whether they're love was real. But now the couple is trying to convince the world that they're ready to go the distance.
Courtney and Ben had been staying out of the spotlight since the airing of the "After the Rose" special, when they revealed that they had broken up briefly after rumors surfaced that Flajnik had cheated on his bride-to-be. But the duo seemed perfectly happy as they attended Svedka's Night of a Billion Reality Stars Bash in Hollywood on March 29.
"We're taking it slow," Flajnik told People. "We haven't decided on a date when she's going to move up to San Francisco yet, so she's got a lot of trips planned. It's nice to get away from the noise and spend time with each other."
He added to Us Weekly, "Now that the show's over and the star's fading... [it's] wonderful for us."
The two have spent most of their time post-Bachelor getting to know one another in their long-distance relationship and meeting each other's friends. And (unlike much of America!) their friends seem to approve of their romance.
"It went really well," Flajnik says. "All my friends loved her. She just gets along with people. My friends were all like, 'She's great.' "
Robertson admits she was nervous at first to meet her fiance's pals, but that soon dissolved. "I was a little bit at first, but as soon as I got there, they were so welcoming and they were just the best people. ... They're just normal guys, you know. I love them. They're funny. It was so much fun."
So when's the wedding? "No date set," Robertson admitted. "We're engaged, dating, taking it slow. We love each other very much. It took the pressure off."
Many Bachelor couples before them have tried and failed at post-show relationships, but Flajnik says that he and Robertson are trying to learn from their predecessors' mistakes.
"We kind of looked back at some of the other Bachelor relationships that didn't work out and the reason for that is you have so much pressure to move in together and set a date and all this kind of stuff," he tells Us. "Let's figure out who we are together before we do any of that and take the pressure off."
However, when they do get hitched, he says it will likely be in "Arizona and California somewhere."
Courtney and Ben certainly look the part of a blissful engaged couple -- but is it genuine? Tell us what you think!
