Betty White Introduces 'Monday Night Football'

Is there anything this 89-year-old spitfire can't do? Last night, Betty White introduced Monday Night Football’s Atlanta Falcons-New Orleans Saints game with a commentary on why she loves football. Watch the intro here:

Let’s put it this way: the world’s unlikeliest football fan certainly has a unique view of the game. Not only did she admit to loving the collisions -- they remind her of some of her friends "who are still driving" -- but she also squealed about loving the excitement, the eye shadow and, "oh, those hot-looking quarterbacks of today!" White even gave a special shout-out to the two hot star players from last night's game: "Tonight, two unopened gifts left under the tree, Matt Ryan and Drew Brees!"

Sure, it’s kind of creepy. But that’s the point. White could be any grandma, sitting cross-legged in her antique living room chair, between the Christmas tree and the stockings hung with care. Listening to her endearing voice, you can’t help but feel like her grandchild, sitting across from her on a plastic-covered couch, and balancing a plate of shortbread cookies on your lap. Then she casually remarks that "Ryan's nickname is 'Matty Ice' because he's so cool, but I prefer 'Matty Steam' because he's so hot." And you choke on your cookie.

White, who kick-started her current career resurgence with a 2010 Super Bowl ad, has gotten a lot of mileage out of those types of unexpected remarks. She’s still chugging along as the wit at the heart of TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland. And she’s got her own hidden camera show, Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, coming up. NBC has described the show as being "in the vein of Jackass and Punk'd." That should be interesting…

But first things first: She’s got to turn 90. Naturally, we’re all invited to her party, Betty White's 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America's Golden Girl (Monday, Jan. 16, at 8 p.m. EST, on NBC). Joel McHale, Mary Tyler Moore, Amy Poehler and her Hot In Cleveland costars will all be on hand to help her celebrate.

If she’s lucky, maybe some NFL hotties will show up, too!
