Nicki Minaj Feared Her Dad Would Kill Her Mom

Nicki Minaj Feared Her Dad Would Kill Her Mom

Nicki Minaj may be the reigning queen of hip-hop, but it hasn't been an easy journey for the fashion-forward MC. In a recent interview with U.K. newspaper The Sun, 26-year-old Minaj opened up about her troubled upbringing.

"All of my young and teenage early years we lived in fear that my mother would be killed by my father," she said. "It was ridiculous. It made me act out to guys and be evil to them when I was growing up."

The Trinidad and Tobago-born singer moved to New York when she was 5 and credits growing up in the city and living in fear of her father for making her so independent. "It made me tough," she admitted. "Of course it did. I am an emotional person, but I am a tough person. It was very tough emotionally for me to have a parent who was an alcoholic and a drug addict. I had a mum with no money."

Minaj said her family "didn't really have many options" and felt "helpless," something she described as "the worst feeling." The wig-wearing, flamboyantly dressed star summed up her father as being "violent -- physically and verbally" and credits her older brother for "(becoming) the man of the house and (standing) up to my father."

"(My mother) didn't cut ties when I felt like she should have done," the perfectly poised rapper said. "That's been my whole thing. I've been able to say, 'This isn't working any more. You need to get out of my life.' I keep it moving and it has worked.'"

Despite her tough childhood, Minaj doesn't take things too seriously. The young MC recently laughed it off when Regis Philbin took his admiration for the rapper's assets a little too far, tapping her on the butt during a live interview. Oh, Reege!

Do you admire Nicki Minaj’s resilience? Chime in below!

Kacey Jordan: K-Fed Plaything ... and Babysitter

Britney Spears is going to love this.

Not only did Kacey Jordan, Charlie Sheen's latest porn star plaything, abort K-Fed's child a few years back, she used to babysit the loser's kids with Britney.

After Brit and Kevin split, Kacey Jordan and K-Fed dated briefly. During that smokin' hot relationship, she would babysit his two sons for him on occasion.

Kacey Jordan PhotoFederleezy Fo Sheezy

WORST SITTER EVER: Britney Spears will surely be thrilled to know her kids were under the care of a trashy porn star that K-Fed was impregnating.

Don't ask us what K-Fed even does that would require him to leave Sean Preston and Jayden James with a babysitter, but that's the story. The scary story.

"I watched the kids when Kevin was dealing with the divorce. He was busy going to so many meetings," she said. "We went swimming ... they were great."

Probably true. Compared to partying with Charlie Sheen, a lot less can go wrong. The odds of ending up in the hospital after OD'ing are certainly smaller.

No wedding bells for Whitney Port!

whitnobells.jpg They may be one of the most low-key, drama-free couples in Hollywood, but Whitney Port and her beau of one year, The Buried Life's Ben Nemtin, have no plans to take their relationship to the next level. "There have been rumors in the past, but we're pretty young, so we're not really thinking about that right now," the gorgeous former MTV reality star and fashion designer, 25, told In Touch when asked about a possible engagement at the Special K "What Will You Gain When Your Lose" event at The Grove in LA. So what's the happily unhitched pair's secret to a lasting courtship? "Just keeping the lines of communication open," Whitney said, "and feeling really comfortable talking to each other about anything."

FOOLYWANG MATERIAL: Guess Who Just Made Getting "LIKED" Lame?

In today's latest issue of Tattoo'd Foolywang Material, a certain rapper went and got himself branded with "Like".  Literally.

Guess who took Facebook way too literal in life when you read on...

Not to be upstaged by Gucci Mane and his ice cream tatt, it's T-Pizzle who went and got himself a foolish ass Facebook Like Button tatt.  Why?  Who knows.  Maybe to distract us from his incessant need to keep those awful dreads and grill. *nose scrunched up*

Rappers these days need a damn hobby.  FAIL.

Demi Lovato Leaves Treatment

Singer is back in L.A., MTV News confirms.

Demi Lovato has left treatment.

MTV News has confirmed that the teen star is already back in Los Angeles after seeking treatment for "emotional and physical issues." She entered treatment back in October, leaving her tour with the Jonas Brothers early.

"Demi came back to L.A. earlier this week," a source close to the star told us. "She completed her prescribed treatment and an outpatient program near the treatment facility. For now, she is getting back to her regular routine and spending time with her family and close friends. Demi will continue to focus first and foremost on her well-being."

The source continued: "To that end, she will continue to see doctors in L.A. who will help her work on the issues she confronted in treatment. She is so grateful to all of her fans for their unbelievable support and looks forward to being able to talk to all of them very soon."

Lovato was spotted near a treatment facility in Woodridge, Illinois, around Christmas when she took some time to celebrate the holidays with her family. Lovato entered treatment after a reported incident with backup dancer Alex Welch. The two later worked out a financial settlement after the alleged incident left the dancer injured.

Despite the personal setback, Lovato has a big 2011 ahead of her, including work on a new album, a planned tour and her hit Disney show "Sonny With a Chance." She also took home two People's Choice Awards earlier this month.

"I wish to thank all the friends and fans who voted for me for the People's Choice Awards and the Hot Hits Hottest Teen Stars of 2010," she wrote on Facebook earlier this month. "I want to make sure my fans know how thankful I am for all their love, support and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you for standing beside me through it all."

Share your well-wishes for Demi Lovato in the comments.

Cher Voices Frustration Over 'Burlesque' Oscar Song Snub

'We didn't get a nomination 4 best song! That sucks!' the icon tweeted about 'You Haven't Seen the Last of Me.'
By James Dinh

Cher in "Burlesque"

After the Academy Award nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, "Burlesque" star Cher made it clear she wasn't going to be celebrating with the nominees.

The icon wasn't pleased with the lack of recognition for her Diane Warren-penned tune "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" from the flashy musical, and she took to Twitter to express her frustration. While it was overlooked by the Academy, the "Burlesque" song recently scored a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

"We didn't get a nomination 4 best song ! That sucks ! Diane's song Is so beautiful !" Cher wrote. "It's hard to understand how u win." Then she referred to her Globes win: "The Golden Globe 4 BEST SONG & not even get nominated by the OSCARS? Oh well it is..what it is ,,,,the sun is still shining !"

Baffled by the snub, Cher even contemplated whether it was her role as the song's performer that impacted its Oscar odds, writing, "maybe she would have had a better chance if someone else was singing it ?!! IT JUST CANT B HER SONG I"

The Golden Globes are typically seen as a good forecast for the Oscars, but the awards aren't a guarantee of Oscar love. A handful of stars from Oscar-nominated movies weren't recognized by the Academy, including Mila Kunis ("Black Swan"), Andrew Garfield ("The Social Network") and Julianne Moore ("The Kids Are All Right").

Do you think Cher's "Burlesque" tune deserved an Oscar nomination? Tell us in the comments!

Check out everything we've got on "Burlesque."

"I feel great," James told Today after he heard the news of his nomination. "I'm here in New Haven. I'm about to go to class." The movie's producers had asked James to play hooky, but he declined. Janine Lindemulder Arrested For Threatening, Harassing Jesse James

Jesse James may have bigger problems than those Nazi pics. Janine Lindemulder, the most unhinged of his ex-wives, was arrested for harassing him.

Jesse and Janine share (and often spar over) a daughter, Sunny. She has served time in prison and has a history of being a real loose cannon.

It was of little surprise, then, that Lindemulder was arrested outside Austin, Tex., this morning on a warrant for harassing Jesse over the phone.

Janine Lindemulder, Porn StarJ-to-the-J

Jesse James' porn star ex-wife has gone off the rails ... again.

Janine was popped by the Hays County Sheriff's Department who had three warrants issued for Janine after Jesse turned over threatening voicemails.

Jesse claims Janine Lindemulder places "chronic harassing telephone calls to his house all hours of the day and night," and has called up to 300 times.

Janine went ballistic over Jesse's decision to relocate to Texas, where his kids could remain close to Sandra Bullock, just after she got out of prison.

Jesse says the calls became "so harassing, abusive and bad," even by her standards, he had to turn over the worst messages to the Austin P.D.

Hope Kat Von D is aware of this guy's (crazy) baggage.

Chris Brown's Order To 'Stay Away' From Rihanna May Be Reduced

Rihanna's lawyer has to OK judge's decision at status hearing to scale the mandate back to a 'do not annoy' order.
By Jayson Rodriguez

The "stay away" order issued against Chris Brown following his assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna is expected to be reduced to a "do not annoy" order, it was revealed Friday (January 28) during a status hearing for Brown.

Judge Patricia Schnegg mandated the protective order back in August 2009 after Brown pleaded guilty to assault. The restriction called for the former couple to not communicate and keep their distance should they attend the same industry event.

Last month, Brown completed a yearlong domestic-violence course. Judge Schnegg once again praised Brown for his progress and congratulated him on his course completion.

The singer's attorney requested that Brown be permitted to skip future status hearings as a result of his completed course work, which the judge granted. Brown still must complete a number of community labor hours.

The "stay away" order being reduced to a "do not annoy" order first needs to be approved by Rihanna's attorney. When Brown reached his plea deal, Rihanna's lawyer notified the court that the pop star did not wish to seek a restraining order against her ex.

During a short recess granted by the judge, Brown's attorney phoned Rihanna's legal rep to OK the motion, but the party was unavailable.

Oscar Nominee Natalie Portman Praises 'Black Swan' Director

Best Actress nominee says nod is 'a wonderful culmination of the 10-year journey with Darren [Aronofsky].'
By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Kara Warner

For those who've been following the awards season, it's not too big of a surprise that "Black Swan" earned five Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Actress (Natalie Portman), and Best Director (Darren Aronofsky). Portman had already won significant recognition for her role in the ballet thriller at the Golden Globes, the Independent Spirit Awards and 10 regional critics' awards associations. So while her first Best Actress Academy Award nomination may not have been unexpected, the actress says she's humbled by the honor.

"I am so honored and grateful to the Academy for this recognition. It is a wonderful culmination of the 10-year journey with Darren to make this film," Portman told MTV News in a statement. "Making 'Black Swan' is already the most meaningful experience of my career, and the passion shown for the film has completed the process of communication between artists and audience. I am so thankful for the support we have received and I share this honor with the entire cast and crew of the film, especially Darren Aronofsky."

This is also Aronofsky's first Oscar nomination. (His 2008 film "The Wrestler" earned Mickey Rourke the Best Actor award for his performance.) Aronofsky has always seemed to target a niche audience with films like "Pi," "Requiem for a Dream" and "The Fountain," so producer Brian Oliver said he was glad that Aronofsky was getting much-deserved recognition.

"I'm really happy for Darren. Darren is a visionary filmmaker and it's finally nice that they recognized him," Oliver told MTV News. "It's also interesting to see how well the movie is being received internationally and in Europe, with the 12 BAFTA nominations and the box-office success, so it's another kudos to Darren, appealing to a wide audience outside a small niche."

With all of the recognition "Black Swan" has been receiving, it was a bit surprising that the film's impressive range of supporting actresses — Mila Kunis, Winona Ryder and Barbara Hershey — didn't get any nods. (Kunis was nominated for a Supporting Actress Golden Globe, though she didn't win.) Oliver theorized that the actresses may have been overlooked because their performances didn't get enough early praise.

"As we saw the race went on, all of our supporting actresses' names were moving up the list, and maybe the recognition started a little too late for Barbara but she definitely ended up being a contender. She did an amazing job. I think if we had another few weeks before nominations, she would have gotten it and maybe Mila as well," the producer said. "Maybe the argument too is we split votes. I think a lot of people voted for Mila, a lot of people voted for Barbara, which is great, it's another testament to Darren, but it probably split their chances."

Check out everything we've got on "Black Swan."

'The Rite' #1, 'The Mechanic' #4; Best Picture Nominees Begin Oscar Bumps

post thumbnail SATURDAY PM/SUNDAY AM: The big news this weekend wasn't justseeing whether domestic grosses were depressed on the post-blizzard East Coast (they weren't), but alsowhich movies received Oscar bumps given that the Academy Award nominations were announced this past Tuesday (all of them still in theaters). Some like The King's Speech, 127 Hours, Blue Valentine (because of Michelle Williams' Best Actress nom), andRabbit Hole (due to Nicole Kidman's), all expanded their runs.True Grit, Black Swan, The Fighter, are still in the thick of their releases and held very well, including Golden Globe Best Drama winnerThe Social Network in limited release for a return engagement to improve on its $96M domestic cume.(But King's Speech attendance could soar if The Weinstein Co succeeds in creating a PG-13 version for exhibitors and educators who want the R-rated movie available to a bigger audience.) As for this weekend's newcomers, studios hoped thathouse-bound blizzard victims would dig out and go to the movieson thisfootball-less Sunday.Warner Bros'exorcism genre picThe Rite starring Anthony Hopkins and playing in 2,985 theaters came in #1with approximately $15 million. '30 Rock' Recap: All's Well That Ends Mel

'30 Rock' Recap: All's Well That Ends Mel

Kabletown officially takes over NBC, and Jack feels more pressure than ever to bring in high ratings. Since reality TV is a sure-fire winner, and celebrity-filled disaster telethons garner the best ratings of all, he contrives to pre-tape a telethon so that he has the edge over other networks during the next natural disaster.

He commissions the writers to imagine various calamitous scenarios, which not only leads to a slew of insanely inappropriate and unlikely cataclysms but also instigates an internal competition between the writers to earn a place in Lutz' car (that he lies about owning) in case a tornado really does hit a gun factory... or something of the sort. As luck would have it, devastation hits Mel Gibson's private island, where he was hosting a douchebag convention with Jon Gosselin.

'SNL' COUP: Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg Joins 'Social Network' Jesse Eisenberg

post thumbnail UPDATE: Here is the video: The Facebook founder and his movie doppelganger joked around and shook hands in tonight's SNL introduction. Therehad beena lot of chatter in the past few days that SNL was trying toland Mark Zuckerberg but nothing was confirmed. Here's what I'm told happened (sorry, I don't have satellite so no access to the East Coast feed): The Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg who's hosting SNL comes out while Andy Samberg is imitating Zuckerberg. Then the real Zuckerberg is shown backstagestanding withLorne Michaelsand asking, "Why can't I go in there? I am the real Mark Zuckerberg." A few seconds later, Zuckerberg joins Eisenberg and Samberg onstage."What did you think of the movie?" the actor asks the billionaire. "It was interesting," Zuckerberg responds. The two guys laugh and shake hands. Kinda cool PR stunt for the Oscar contender.

Natalie Portman Responds to iVillage Entertainment Awards Nomination

Mom-to-be Natalie Portman always shines on the red carpet with her sartorial choices. So, it's no surprise that she's vying for the Most Flawless Red-Carpet Fashionista category in our 2nd Annual iVillage Entertainment Awards.

And though the Oscar contender, 30, is thrilled to be nominated, she admits that her style isn't always so flawless.

"Well, it's really nice -- especially if you saw what I dress like if I'm not on the red carpet, which is pretty pretty sloppy," the Black Swan star said to iVillage, when we told her the news about her Entertainment Awards nomination (watch the video above). "But it's nice to have those sort of princess moments. I'm in sweatpants every other day."

Portman, who snagged the best actress Golden Globe this month, has some stiff competition in the Most Flawless Red-Carpet Fashionista category. The Town's Blake LivelyGlee's Lea Michele and Love & Other Drugs' Anne Hathaway are also being recognized for their stunning turns on the red carpet. Whitney Port's Revealing Salon Stop

Getting prettied up ahead of the weekend, Whitney Port made a visit to a local salon in Beverly Hills on Friday afternoon (January 28).

The former "Hills" hottie let it all hang out at the nail shop as she found a comfy perch before being tended to with a mani/pedi treatment.

Aside from her week-ending pampering session, Miss Port recently gushed about her boyfriend Ben Nemtin's wonderful qualities.

She told People magazine, "I think he embodies all of the qualities of the perfect boyfriend. I think we're just really open and honest with each other. We tell each other everything that goes on and everything that we're feeling everyday, and we're just really there for each other."

Citing his listening skills as one of the best qualities, Whit added, "I think trust is super important for a boyfriend. I think some of my previous relationships were probably less mature. Guys grow up a lot slower than [women] do. I'll just put it that way."

Nicki Minaj's 'Moment 4 Life' Video: Top 4 Moments

Drake and Barbie take their flirtation to a new level in clip, with a kiss.
By Jayson Rodriguez

When Drake met Nicki Minaj a few years ago on Lil Wayne's tour bus, hearts filled his eyes — or did they?

The two have been coy about their relationship, alternating between describing their union as a brother/sister bond and romantically inclined. They announced their marriage last year on Twitter only to annul everything days later as a joke.

Now, the pair star opposite each other in Nicki's new video, "Moment 4 Life." Did they finally put their flirtation to bed? Not quite: The Young Money soldiers managed to stoke the flames even more, with their gazes into each other's eyes and a lip-lock that would make Morganna Roberts blush. Here, MTV News recaps the top four moments in "Moment 4 Life."

Black Magic
Clearly Nicki Minaj is in the midst of a moment. Her debut, Pink Friday, continues to sell well, and she recently returned from overseas, where she caused her British Barbies to lose it. To make sure her success lasts longer, however, the Young Money maven enlists the help of a fairy godmother, yet another alter ego of hers, Martha, to make the moment longer than Weezy's dreads.

Leading Man
Drizzy channels his inner Marcus Graham (check the "Boomerang"credits on IMDb) in the clip as he overlooks the party in full-on mack mode from the balcony with a martini in hand. The Toronto lyricist spots his fellow Lil Wayne protégé, Nicki, and they lock eyes. They fix their eyes on each other throughout the video, a move that will surely keep the status of their relationship (friends or lovers?) a hot topic throughout the year.

Marital Bliss?
The clip climaxes with Drake and Nicki entering the festivities hand-in-hand, him sporting a tuxedo and her in a dress. With a cursory glance, the pair look like the perfect soon-to-be husband and wife walking down the aisle. But the camera pulls back, revealing they are actually the prince and princess of the ball.

The Kiss
The Twitter marriage and all the flirting between the two in the past pays off in the end as Nicki and Drake lock lips. The clock counts down, but when it strikes midnight, Nicki's moment continues as Drake draws her near and plants one on her. The money shot is obstructed by Nicki's hair as she cranes her neck to kiss him back, but by the look on Martha's face, who flies by, a massive attack ensued.

Jeremy Piven on Miley Cyrus: "We Have Great Chemistry"

There may be a huge age difference between Jeremy Piven and Miley Cyrus, but the So Undercover costars seem to have formed a bond on the set of their new film.

"I think I must be an 18-year-old girl because we got along really well," Piven told Eonline.com. "It was just so much fun. I had so much fun with her and we had great chemistry. It was really really weird -- we're like polar opposites."

And, while Cyrus continues to be under public scrutiny for some of her personal choices, Piven says the Hannah Montana star doesn't deserve to be treated so harshly.

"You know, you can judge her, but what were you doing when you were 18?" the Entourage star, 45, said. "She's kind of amazing. There's something so incredibly refreshing about someone who is exactly who they are. There's nothing pretentious about her. She's this force. She loves to laugh."

In addition to enjoying his newfound friendship with Cyrus, Piven says that his stock has gone up with his young nieces, who now think he's cool for knowing the Disney powerhouse.

"Right now they think I work for the bus company because they saw me on an ad for Entourage on a bus, so they asked me if I work for the bus company," he said. "I said, 'No, Uncle Jeremy doesn't work for the bus company.' I was going to explain it to them, but I was like, 'Ah, forget it.' So finally I'll get a little respect...That's basically what my career has come down to is to earn the respect of my nieces."

Chris Brown's Positive Progress Hearing

Pushing forth with his effort to get out of the legal system, Chris Brown appeared in court with his attorney Mark Geragos for a probation progress report hearing in Los Angeles, California on Friday (January 28).

During the session, the "Say Goodbye" singer was granted a request to be permitted to skip future status hearings - which Judge Patricia Schnegg approved.

Meanwhile, it is expected that a "stay away" order issued against Brown on ex-girlfriend Rihanna will soon be reduced to a "do not annoy" order.

The court doings come after Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna after a pre-Grammy Awards party in 2009.

Mark Wahlberg Oscar Snub: Why Was His 'Fighter' Performance Ignored?

We examine some theories about why Wahlberg is being largely overlooked this awards season.
By Ryan J. Downey

There will be no Oscar for Mark Wahlberg's performance in "The Fighter." Despite the constant reminder in the film's television spots that Mark's character was the one fighting ("Nawt you, nawt you and nawt you!"), the guy playing the role referenced in the film's very title has been largely overlooked this awards season.

A nomination in the Best Actor category at the Golden Globes and inclusion in the movie's numerous ensemble nods notwithstanding, the guy who passionately worked to bring the true story of "Irish" Mickey Ward to the screen as producer and star remains empty-handed for his own performance. "The Fighter" was gritty, visceral, funny, heartbreaking and heartwarming, and a lot of that has to do with Wahlberg's lead role, so what went wrong? Here are a few theories:

He's Already Been Rewarded
As producer and star of "The Fighter" and champion of the real-life boxers portrayed by him and Bale, Wahlberg has gotten to sit back and enjoy the numerous noms lavished on the rest of the cast and the movie in general. It's possible that Academy voters figure that since "The Fighter" is such a personal movie for Wahlberg, he's been rewarded enough through the recognition the flick has gotten in all these other ways. Perhaps folks think a Best Picture nomination for "The Fighter" doubles as love for Wahlberg, as it's very much his movie in the end.

In its analysis, the "Today" show supported this theory, chalking up Wahlberg's absence to "dilution" from the expanded Best Picture category. "Christian Bale got nominated for playing Mark Wahlberg's brother, Amy Adams got nominated for playing his girlfriend, Melissa Leo got nominated for playing his mom, and Wahlberg himself got nominated for... Nothing. As an actor, that is," Joal Ryan wrote, pointing out, "Wahlberg is up for Best Picture for producing."

But Movieline's Alonso Duralde cautioned against the notion that the Oscars set out to shortchange any particular person. "If there's anything I've learned in my years of voting with the L.A. Film Critics Association, [it's that] it's all random and chaotic," he told MTV News. "We often attribute things to 'the Academy likes this, or the Academy likes that'— but it's all about individuals. It may just be that there were five performances that people liked better. For all we know, [Wahlberg] came in sixth by two votes."

Christian Bale Got the Juicier Role
"Wahlberg turned in a wicked pissah performance as boxer 'Irish' Mickey Ward in 'The Fighter' and figured to be a shoo-in for Best Actah, but failed to get an Oscah nawd," Mark Marino joked over at NextMovie.com. "Meanwhile, as in the film, co-star Christian Bale continues to get all the attention as Dicky Eklund."

As Mickey's trainer brother, Bale sinks his teeth into crack addiction, familial strife, greed, despair, empathy and even a few prison scenes in "The Fighter."

As Bale said so eloquently at the Golden Globes as he accepted the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama prize: "I really gotta give a shout-out to Mark, because he drove this whole movie. And you can only give a loud performance like the one I gave when you have a quiet anchor and a stoic character. I've played that one many times, and it never gets any notice."

FilmDrunk editor in chief/ co-founder Vince Mancini agreed with Bale. "Everybody else has a very showy sort of role," Mancini told MTV News. "I just don't think Academy voters necessarily recognize subtlety in acting. Traditionally, they recognize stuff that is big and very obvious. I don't think Wahlberg's [performance] was that."

"I have always said that the Academy likes acting that it can quantify," Duralde reasoned. "They like to be able to put it on a scale and say, 'Look at this nose, look at this accent, look at all this weight you lost. You're pretty, but you did this role without makeup.' They can put a finger on that. The subtler stuff doesn't get noticed as much because it's not as showy."

How Much Acting Is He Really Doing?
Undeniably, the actor and producer has a strong personal connection with these people and this story. But does that mean he wasn't acting his ass off? Does everything need to be some big stretch?

"I would say this is closely related to [what Bale said]," Mancini pointed out. "The part that's acting [for Wahlberg] might not be blatantly obvious to people."

Duralde likened this theory to some of the talk back in 1997. "You had this great comic performance by Rupert Everett in 'My Best Friend's Wedding,' but I think people were like, 'He's playing a gay guy and he's gay, so how much work could that be?' " he lamented, pointing out that Marsha Mason was nominated for 1979's "Chapter Two" where she played a character based on her own life.

And So ...
Whatever the reason, or reasons, for Wahlberg's notable absence from the acting category at most of the major awards, it's a safe bet that the reception to the film overall offers some satisfaction.

"It has been such an incredible journey with 'The Fighter' and one that I am grateful to share with David O. Russell, Christian, Melissa, Amy, my fellow producers and the Ward and Eklund families, who are the heart and soul of the film," Wahlberg said in a statement after the Oscar nominations were announced. "Thank you to the Academy for this tremendous honor."

'Law & Order' Co-Star Alana De La Garza Joins Spinoff 'Law & Order: Los Angeles'

Nellie AndreevaLaw & Order: Los Angeles is adding a touch of Law & Order. Alana De La Garza, who co-starred on the mothership series, will join the spinoff, reprising her character as A.D.A. Connie Rubirosa. On the show, from Wolf Films and UMS, Rubirosa will work with D.D.A. Jonah Dekker (Terrence Howard). This completes the creative and casting overhaul of LOLA, which included the shift of Alfred Molina's Ricardo Morales from a prosecutor to a detective partnered with TJ Jaruszalski (Corey Stoll) and the departure of Skeet Ulrich, Regina Hall and Megan Boone. There is no return date set for the show yet as NBC brass is giving the producers more time to work on the revamp. SDB Partners-repped De La Garza was the most recent ADA on Law & Order. She joined at the beginning of Season 17 and was on the show for 4 seasons, until the veteran procedural's end in May. Her addition creates a stronger tie between Law & Order: Los Angeles and Law & Order and makes the new series a more traditional spinoff, which features character(s) from the original series. ?I hope fans of the ?mothership? will be happy to see the return of Alana?s character, Connie Rubirosa, one of the longest-running assistant prosecutors on Law & Order," L&O creator Dick Wolf said. 'Bachelor' Brad Womack Talks Arrest, "Cutthroat" Women

Brad Womack doesn't deny that he's broken some hearts in the past, but it was his criminal -- and not his romantic -- history that The Bachelor star wanted to clear up during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

In an interview with Leno, 38-year-old Womack addressed OK! magazine's cover story about his arrest for driving with a fake license. "This happened 20 years ago," Womack explained. "I was a very young kid, I was trying to get into bars. I was in fraternities, and I made a fake ID. That's all it boils down to." Watch the clip for yourself below.

"It's sad that things get so blown out of proportion, but I guess scandal sells," he added. "But it was 20 years ago. It was a fake ID. I'm not condoning that by any means, but it was (just) a fake ID."

The reality star went on to admit to Leno that the license bore a different last name than Womack, but the reason for that is far from shady. "I was born Womack. I was adopted at 4 years old and changed my last name (to Picklesimer)," he said. "As soon as I got out of college, I changed my name back to Womack, because that's my name and I'm proud of it."

Womack also assured the late-night host that even though he didn’t find love his first time on the show, he's still "a hopeless romantic." "You can find love no matter what," he told Leno. That said, Womack acknowledged the competitive nature of some of the Bachelor contestants vying for his heart. "I'm watching behind the scenes at the house, and these women are cutthroat," he laughed. "Hands down, I would say women are more competitive than men."

One of those super competitive ladies is Michelle Money, the contestant Womack claimed "gave herself a black eye" and who also admitted to an affair with a married NBA player.

Despite the win-at-all-costs antics of many of the female contestants, Womack refuses to call them desperate. "I went on twice," he smiled. "I'm the desperate one."

'Mechanic' Star Jason Statham Talks Allure Of Playing Tough Guys

'If I do go into something else, it will be because it is good,' the action hero tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner

Those familiar with the work of Jason Statham know that he doesn't really do "fluffy" films or romantic comedies. He is a man of action and general butt-kicking/badass-ery: see "The Transporter," "The Bank Job," "Crank" and "The Expendables," to name a few.

Statham's new film, "The Mechanic," in which he plays a trained assassin who takes the son of his former mentor (Ben Foster) under his wing, is no different. There is a lot of action and a lot of ass-kicking, just the way his fans like it.

When MTV News caught up with Statham, we asked him if he felt at all typecast, and whether he'd take on a nice-guy role in a romantic comedy someday.

"You know, it's tough, because people will always keep saying to me, 'Do you only see yourself doing action movies?' and, I don't know," Statham said. "It's very difficult because one day I might be asked to do something that is of quality in a different genre, but the films that come from different genres aren't that great," he argued. "So I end up not doing them because once you make a mistake in that area, you can't go back. So, if I do go into something else, it will be because it is good."

But Foster told us his co-star doesn't just play a tough guy onscreen, but rather makes each performance unique by infusing them with "vulnerability."

"If you're a tough guy, and Jason is, the hardest part is showing vulnerability," Foster explained. "And it's working in 'The Bank Job' and in 'The Mechanic' here, and other films. He brings a lot of quiet heart to it. And it's difficult stuff because movie viewers aren't looking for that necessarily," he said. "But Jason is always being a humanity to [something] behind the bullets."

Call Her "Ms. Hill": Lauryn Pulls A Diva Move At Sundance + Naomi Campbell's Perjury In Perfume Trial

Apparently Lauryn Hill isn't the easiest artist to deal with as folks from Sundance are talking about her diva behavior, which includes making EVERYONE address her as "Ms. Hill."  Get the deets inside plus a status update on Naomi Campbell's perfume trial which isn't going in her favor...

In addition to starting shows late, seeming disconnected from the audience, and eccentric outfits, Lauryn Hill pulled a "Diana Ross" move in Sundance demanding that everyone address her as "Ms. Hill."

L-Boogie's management warned staffers at Harry O's in Park City, Utah, that she was only to be addressed as "Ms. Hill" during her Wednesday night performance.

"Everyone sort of rolled their eyes and chuckled but promised to oblige," said a source.

Once she hit the stage, she played for two hours with an 11-piece band. And fans got their monies worth good because Harry O's Konstantine Deslis said, "She put on the best show I've seen in six years."

We're actually not mad at the Ms. Hill demand.  But if she starts the whole "Don't look directly into my eyes" thing....

In supermodel news...

Naomi Campbell is in danger of being charged with perjury in her perfume trial.  Naomi's former agent, Carole White, claims Na, her manager, and her lawyer lied under oath to avoid losing a $10 million suit over Naomi's perfume royalties.

Carole is suing Ms. Campbell for allegedly reneging on a perfume deal. Although Naomi said Carole overstated her involvement with the fragrance, Carole has offered a recording of a 2006 meeting about the deal, which she says proves Naomi and her lawyer lied.

Yesterday, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Judith Gische called the allegations "serious," but said she will give the Campbell legal team an opportunity to defend themselves before she decides whether to refer them to the district attorney and charge them with perjury.

As for a statement from the supermodel, her lawyer "categorically" denied the allegations on behalf of everyone involved.  This chick stays caught up in some mess doesn't she?

Nicki Minaj's 'Moment 4 Life' Video: An Acting Coach Weighs In

An acting coach weighs in on the MC's flair for the dramatic.

Nicki Minaj is one of the hottest MCs in the game, but in her "Moment 4 Life" video, the singer also shows off her acting abilities, playing her fairy godmother, Martha, and a Roman-inspired, Cinderella-like version of herself. The New York native does have a background in drama, having attended New York's famous LaGuardia High School, and now it seems she's putting some of that training to good use.

So how do her skills rate? "I think she has a great personality that comes through; very vibrant. I love her energy. I love her rapping ability," said Roger Del Pozo, assistant director of admissions at New York Film Academy, who helps handle acting auditions for the school. "As an actress, probably not that subtle, but I don't think that subtlety is going to be her strong point anyways."

Nicki may be a skilled MC, sharpening her acting chops, and Del Pozo offered her some advice: "She should probably be trying to be a little more natural, a little more realistic; it's a little over-the-top," he said. "I'd like to see her a little more subtle, trusting the camera a little bit more."

Of the two characters she plays in the clip, Del Pozo has a favorite: "I think I like the Nicki Minaj character, 'cause she's cuter and you see her natural energy come through a little more," he said. "I think she's funny and she's very expressive. With the right material, she would do a good job. Her straight acting ability, I'd probably give her a 6, and as a just a performer in general, I'd probably give her a 9 or a 10."

In an exclusive interview following the premiere of "Moment 4 Life," Nicki called acting her "favorite part of the video" and explained why Roman is her favorite character to play. "I think I started liking Roman more because everybody else liked Roman," she said. "Everybody wanted to see what outlandish thing he would say next. And I think people are expecting him to do something real crazy on the next album, so I'm having fun prepping him for the sophomore album."

How would you rate Nicki's acting abilities? Let us know in the comments!

'American Idol' Takes Nashville, Finds Potential Winner In Lauren Alaina

Teen wows the judges with her strong voice.
By Gil Kaufman

No pressure, Nashville, but the biggest "American Idol" winner in the show's history, Carrie Underwood, just happens to live in Music City. That was the not-so-subtle message "Idol" producers opened the show with on Thursday night (January 27) when our new favorite judging trio sat behind their desk in the legendary Ryman Auditorium to see what they could find in the home of country music.

By the time they got up, they felt like they might have found a winner in a 15-year-old country girl with a voice as big as all outdoors.

But things did not get off to a very good start thanks to helium-voiced chicken squawker Christine McCaffrey, a not-quite-there dental assistant from West Palm Beach, Florida, who butchered one of J.Lo's favorite songs, Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance." All Randy Jackson could keep saying was, "Really? Really?"

In past seasons, we've had twins, best friends, brothers and sisters, but Thursday night's show brought us our first auditioning exes. Aspiring singers and former couple Rob Bolin and Chelsee Oaks made beautiful music together, singing a flawless duet on the Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody."

"You were one voice," a pleasantly surprised Steven Tyler told them. "Sometimes passion comes from friction, and I saw how much in love you were." Restaurant worker Bolin, 23, showed off his deliciously raspy Ray LaMontagne-style chops on Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," while waitress Oaks, 23, was equally impressive with a rich run through Brandi Carlile's "The Story." Both made it through, so Hollywood Week should be interesting.

Amid the great ones, there were philosophical, Lynyrd Skynyrd-lovin', thick-as-a-brick tattoo artists, a screechy Chaka Khan killer, a kid in a blue bodysuit and a soulful former Miss Teen USA named Stormi (yes, with an "I") who got through over Lopez's objections about her "small" voice.

And then there was 27-year-old Wickliffe, Kentucky, student Adrienne Beasley. Her inspiring story was solid — she was adopted by a white family at age 2 and raised on a farm — but her singing was even better, mixing a hint of R&B grit and country twang on Lady Antebellum's "American Honey."

"I hear something so special in your voice, and I can't put my finger on it right now," said Tyler, who was close to tears after the performance. The real showstopper, though, was self-proclaimed recording artist and already-a-star Latoya "Younique" Moore, a 26-year-old who made up in sass what she lacked in vocal skills.

Her tone-deaf slaughter of Tamia's "When I Close My Eyes" was a disaster, and Tyler was kind when he joked it was "definitely unique." Randy was more blunt, calling it annoying and making a high-pitched buzzing-bee sound while breaking the bad news. But Moore wasn't done, as she sang her way out the door, hoping for one last chance, thinking perhaps it was just her tempo that was off and not everything else.

A succession of fellas knocked it out later in the day, showing off some ear-licious deep-fried soul and grit that got the judges excited. Matt Dillard's story was very inspirational, coming from a family that had housed more than 700 special-needs foster children over the past two decades. The brawny, cowboy-hat-wearing 27-year-old unemployed Tennessee good ol' boy surprised the panel with his low-key cover of Josh Groban's popera hit "You Raise Me Up."

Lopez wasn't swayed, but Tyler agreed with Jackson that it was worth taking a chance on Dillard.

Talk about saving the best for last! The judges were sure they found a potential winner in Rossville, Georgia, spunky 15-year-old Lauren Alaina, who cited her cancer-survivor cousin as the inspiration for her singing. And when she opened her mouth and poured out Faith Hill's "Like We Never Loved at All," the air went out of the room as her smoky voice wrapped around the ballad and hit all the high, low and in-between notes like a seasoned pro.

"Best we've seen today ... I'm blown away," Randy said. "I think you should cry," Tyler added as Alaina began to mist up. "Because you're going to make 40 million people cry tears of joy, baby."

She put some icing on the cake after she brought in her family and instructed Tyler to duet with her on his "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," her parents' favorite song.

It's on to Austin, Texas, next week and two more nights of auditions.
