Fred Willard Fired From New PBS Show Following Arrest

Fred Willard has lost a job over his arrest for alleged lewd conduct in an adult-film theater. PBS announced Thursday that Willard will no longer act as narrator of their new Antiques Roadshow spinoff, Market Warriors.

The 72-year-old actor, best known for his comedic performances in director Christopher Guest's films as well as Anchorman and TV sitcoms such as Modern Family and Everybody Loves Raymond, was arrested and taken into custody Wednesday evening after a routine police sweep of a XXX movie theater in Hollywood.

Due to his arrest for reportedly being caught with his pants down, a spokeswoman for the Boston PBS affiliate that produces Market Warriors, tells The New York Times that "effective immediately" Willard has lost his gig on the reality antiques show.

"Given the unfortunate news reported today, effective immediately, Fred Willard no longer will be involved with the Market Warriors series," Jeanne Hopkins, a rep for WGBH, said in a statement.

The Best in Show star, who introduced the new show at PBS's annual meeting in May, will be replaced by Mark Walberg, the show's host.

As for Willard, his attorney released a statement explaining that the arrest was a misunderstanding.

"With all due respect to the individual officer," attorney Paul Takakjian tells TMZ, "our belief is that Fred did nothing in any violation of any law. We will be working vigorously to clear his name in this matter."
