Kim Kardashian Cast in Upcoming Tyler Perry Movie

Who can really keep up with Kim Kardashian? In the past few months alone, she's thrown the wedding of the year, launched her clothing line for Sears with her sisters, and wrapped up the next season of Kourtney & Kim Take New York (premiering Sunday, Nov. 27, at 10 p.m. on E!). Well, the middle Kardashian sis has something else on deck -- a movie role!

"Big news dolls!!" she wrote on her Celebuzz blog on Oct. 21 (her 31st birthday). "I've signed up to costar in Tyler Perry's new movie The Marriage Counselor, based on his stage play! This is such an amazing opportunity and I can't wait to start filming!" She also twittered the news last Friday for fans who might have missed the post.

Though Kardashian has done some cameos and small guest spots on TV and in B-grade films, this will be her "most substantial acting role so far," according to Deadline. She'll play a cheating, Ivy-League-educated coworker to the film's main character, a relationship expert played by Jurnee Smollett.

Kardashian's certainly not the first reality star to try to break onto the big screen. But so far, the track record for reality-stars-turned-A-list-film-stars is pretty dismal. The closest any reality star has come to box office success is The Real World's Jacinda Barrett (from the London season), whose filmography includes New York, I Love You, School For Scoundrels, The Last Kiss and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.

Other reality-stars-turned-film-actors have had modest success at best. Paris Hilton's acting career has consisted of box-office bombs like House of Wax, Bottoms Up, National Lampoon's Pledge This! and The Hottie & the Nottie. Kristin Cavallari of The Hills has had some small roles in minor films like 2009's Spring Breakdown and Wild Cherry.

And…is it worth mentioning that Kim Zolciak and Sheree Whitfield of The Real Housewives of Atlanta had cameos in the 2009 film, The Joneses? Probably not.

But even if Kardashian's attempts at movie stardom fall flat, she has a half dozen day jobs to fall back on. Not to mention the fact that she doesn't exactly need the money. She's already a 1%-er.
